There was a time…

There was a time when I was happy ALL the time.

There was a time where my tears were tears of joy.

There was a time when I was seldom down.

There was a time when there was always a smile on my face.

There was a time when my future seemed so bright.

There was a time when I believed in fairy tales.

There was a time when I knew that I would live “happily ever after.”

There was a time when I believed in the power of love.

There was a time when I knew that love would conquer all.

There was a time when I believed in love.

There was a time when I had dreams.

There was a time when I had hope.

There was a time when I knew that no matter where I was you would find me.

There was a time I believed you loved me.

There was a time when I hung on your every word.

There was a time when I thought you’d never leave.

Now I don’t know if I will ever be happy again.

Now my tears are bitter, cold, angry, and sad.

Now I’m so down, I don’t know if I’ll ever find my way up.

Now my face doesn’t remember what it means to smile.

Now my future is bleak and lonely.

Now I know that fairy tales exist only in children’s books.

Now I know that “happily ever after” is just what they say in children’s books, because the truth is far too ugly for kids.

Now I know that one-sided love holds no power.

Now I know that love conquers nothing but a broken heart.

Now I know that love doesn’t exist.

Now I have no dreams.

Now all of my hope is gone.

Now I know that you left me, because you don’t care to find me.

Now I know that you never loved me and never will.

Now I know that every word you breathed to me was a lie from the start.

Now you’ve gone and there’s no turning back.
