Hey Everyone! I have been nominated once again for the Sunshine Blogger Award by Divya Krishnan owner of the MerryMotherhood blog. If you are not following, I strongly encourage you to follow! Thank you so much, Divya for this award!
My Answers to Divya’s Questions
1. What prompted you to start writing?
I have written since I was about 8 years old. My parents used to give us kids a journal for Christmas each year, and I would fill mine with stories, poems, special events. I still have my journals. I saved them because I “wanted to share them with my children one day.” I have not shared them yet, each time I think to, I start reading my old writings, I become embarrassed and worry the kids will laugh at me, haha! They really want to read my old journals. Soon. Maybe.
2. How has your blog changed you as a person?
Wow, great question! My blog has evolved so much since it began. I would say that I have grown since blogging, and I can see my growth through my words. I believe God has made all the difference. He is my inspiration.
3. Assuming you read books, name that one book which you often quote from.
I read the Bible daily, and I quote from that often. Lysa Terkeust is one of my favorite authors and I quote from a variety of her books. Sylvia Plath is my favorite poet, it has been a while, but every once in a while, I will quote from her.
4. Name that one writer whose works you keep going back to read.
Aside from the Bible – Lysa Terkeust. I have been on a Lysa Terkeust kick for a good year now! I even have a daily quote calendar. Just can’t get enough. Oh, and C.S. Lewis! I have almost a full collection of his literary works (along with Sylvia Plath’s). So, it’s difficult for me to narrow it down to one, sorry!
5. Assuming you listen to music, what is that one song that you feel was written for you.
Just one song… This is tough. I would say Natalie Grant’s “Clean” – that song on repeat (yes I will)
6. Assuming yet again that you watch movies, name that one movie that made you rethink the way you lived your life.
I do watch movies… Mostly Korean or Korean Dramas… One that made me rethink the way I lived my life… South Korean “A Moment to Remember” also known as “Eraser In My Head” It’s about a woman with early onset Alzheimer’s Disease. She eventually forgets her husband, although she is young. It was a sad movie. One of my introductory shows to Korean television. Unlike American television, I enjoyed the realism “there isn’t always a happy ending and people don’t always get better.” I was in a dark place at the time. It helped to cry as I watched a show, because I couldn’t allow myself to cry for my own life. Now, I’m hooked on Korean Dramas/Movies/even music 🎵
7. Who is that one person you love so much that you hate yourself for it? (in other words that one person you cannot imagine life without?
Well, I don’t hate myself for it, but I love my three kiddos so stinking much I cannot imagine life without them! It’s my weekend without them, I’m between classes, and I think I’m going to go crazy! I love them more than words can express!
8. What is your worst fear?
Well, I didn’t have any until I went to the doctor and she told me that depression is linked to dementia. Now, I’m not depressed by any means, but I suppose I fear growing old, becoming a recluse, getting dementia, and dying alone. *sad*
9. What motivates you to wake up each day?
Life! Living! I love the life I’m living. Each day is a blessing! God is so good to me. Whether it is a good day or a not the best day, I am excited to wake up and begin my walk with Him!
10. Given a choice, would you hike up a mountain or go diving in the ocean?
As beautiful as the views are that mountains offers and I do enjoy a good hike… a) I’m afraid of heights, and b) I’m a water baby! Diving in the ocean any day!
11. Happiness or Contentment? Why?
Contentment. I feel as though contentment lasts longer than happiness. Happiness comes and goes. Contentment is long lasting; it provides fulfillment as well as the foundation for the moments of happiness.
