Standing in the Gap

A little before half past two, I woke up this morning, and I prayed for you…

Honestly, I shouldn’t have been awake at all. I don’t know what woke me. I don’t know why you flashed in my head. But, as I tell my kids, If you wake in the middle of the night, say a quick pray. If someone is on your mind, pray for that person. I obeyed my own advice. I hope this day finds you well…

1 Timothy‬ ‭2:1‬ ‭KJVI exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;”‬‬

We never know who is praying for us, standing in the gap, calling out our name to God, in the wee hours of the morning or night. For those times we need an extra prayer, whatever the reason, I believe God places individuals who know us, and even those who don’t know us, to stand in the gap.

Job‬ ‭42:10‬ ‭KJVAnd the Lord turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.

‭‭‬‬Praying for others does something for us as well. For Job, when he prayed for his friends the Lord restored him. And doubled what he had. This morning’s prayer did something to me, that I had not quite expected.

There’s obedience in prayer. There’s so much beauty in it as well. I woke up early this morning, never meaning to, and found myself praying for you…
