Spring Fever

“It is spring fever. That is what the name of it is. And when you’ve got it, you want–oh, you don’t know quite what it is you do want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so!” – Mark Twain

Spring is just a few days away, already the weather is nice! I did not expect to see the 70s at all, however today, when my car read 76 on the way home from work, I could not wait to get home, change into summer clothes and soak up some sunshine!

It isn’t quite spring yet and as I told my godmother, I believe it’s going to be an interesting one. I haven’t caught “spring fever.” Yet, I feel surrounded by people who have! To be quite honest, I’m rather annoyed with the nerve of a person you see. I asked myself, Is there a place that creepy old guys go to find pick lines for women?

Lines just don’t work on me, perhaps because I have heard them all before. But, what’s so wrong with being genuine? What’s so wrong with being yourself? Is it really so difficult to get to know someone? Unless, of course, that’s not your intention. But, you pegged me terribly wrong.

Platitudes and pick up lines? Do they actually work on anyone? One thing about me, all should know, even at my lowest I possess this trait called self-respect. It takes nothing to get to know me. I give others the benefit of the doubt, at least I try, but there are a few things that will take away any semblance of respect that I may have had.

“Where flowers bloom so does hope.” – Lady Bird Johnson

I am excited for spring and all of the beauty it brings. Flowers are blooming, leaves are returning. Birds are flying back, soon we’ll hear their songs again. Today, I was kissed by the warmth of the sun on my skin. There is always hope... Not to mention the return of baseball!
