“No” is an Answer

Sometimes the answer is “no.”

I don’t always listen. Sometimes I hear what I want to hear instead of what’s really being said. Am I the only person who does this?

What happens, though, when what I hear isn’t what has been said and when the no isn’t actually a not yet?

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.” Isaiah‬ ‭55:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

I truly believe that God places desires in our hearts. However, are there times when our desires don’t match up with what He desires for us? Is this when we refuse to hear the no? When we take matters into our own hands? When we fall out of step with His master plan?

I can think of a *few* times in my life when I didn’t listen. I didn’t want to hear the no. I tried to mistake it for a not yet that was taking too long so I decided to hurry it along. In the end I made a mess. I stepped outside of God’s will for my life.

That hindsight though…

Then I told myself, I won’t make that mistake again! Only to nearly stumble forward, eyes wide shut, into a situation that – Did I remember to pray about it first? Yes, maybe, sorta – no…What was the answer? TBH, I didn’t make it quite that far… Tell me you can relate??

Life happens in the storms we sometimes create.

I’m grateful that no matter the storm – self made, or circumstantial, God is in the boat with me through it all.

“…for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.” Deuteronomy‬ ‭31:6‬b KJV

  1. You’re definitely not alone. God does gives us the desire and power to act (Philippians 2:13) but it’s to accomplish his will and not our own. I’ve tried to go ahead on my own and every time I regret it. Because of Jehovah God’s love for us he wants what’s best for us. I try to always keep that in mind.
