Charity Covers

We are told to never judge a book by it’s cover. We are instructed to love our neighbors as ourselves. We are also instructed to love our enemies.

Sometimes those offenders are neighbors. Sometimes they are friends, family even, perhaps residing under the same roof… Sometimes loving is challenging

Hearing their stories – my heart hurt for both offender and for whom the offense was done against. Knowing that only God can heal all hearts – He healed my heart after all…

“And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.” ‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭4:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

What does it look like, for love to cover a multitude of sins? I really cannot explain it other than release. And with that release into God’s hands comes compassion, forgiveness, mercy – charity… It really is something that only God can do… I really can’t explain it. It has to be an intentional decision!

Still, sitting there, listening, all I could think was we don’t belong here. We don’t belong here.

“And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.” ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭6:11‬ ‭KJV‬‬

I was wrong. No matter the circumstances that brought us to that place, we needed to be there. If only to pray, witness – God would get glory in the end.

I thank God for saving me. Sometimes I wonder, what made the difference between their lives and mine? Statistics say – I should have been one of them. But God, I suppose, said differently..

They looked just like me, my neighbors, coworkers… Had anyone stopped along their life’s journey to tell them that He loved them too? What happened in their lives’ to bring them to the places they are today? I know one thing – it isn’t too late.

I’ve heard it said: Never judge another person, they are fighting a larger battle than you, grieving more than you, in more pain than you… The longer I live, I learn more and more each day, this sentiment is true.

No matter what I face, how much I may struggle in a day – you know what? It’s still a good day! Why? Because, God is with me! He goes before me, leads and guides me, fights for me. Most importantly, He loves me and I love Him! I know He loves me – I have experienced the love of Christ, so every day is a wonderful, blessed day. I can only hope and pray that everyone comes to experience the love of God in the same way.
