Sacrifice of Thanksgiving

“I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of the Lord.” Psalms‬ ‭116:17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Can I still be thankful when circumstances are challenging?

It’s easy to offer God praises and thanks when things are going well – when I’m being blessed. But, what about when things aren’t going so well? I’m learning to be intentional to be grateful, because it is not human nature to offer God thanks in the midst of trials.

They say that it takes 21 days to form a new habit, however new research states that it takes anywhere from 18-254 days (Phillippa Lally).

I have started daily writing those things for which I am thankful. Initially, I admit, I focused on surface things and blessings – you know, those things that are easy to thank God for… But then, I decided to dig deeper, offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving. Because, how often do I say that I will praise Him in the good and the bad?

I truly thank God for those times/situations that were challenging.

Last year was one of the best years of my life, after some of the most challenging years. And this year has proven to be a year of answered prayers – so far. Of course, I have had my fair share of ups and downs… Still, I’m grateful to say that even in the lowest of lows, the most challenging moments, I can see how God’s hands have been on my life, and I’m thankful.

Now, I’m doing my best – no matter the situation, to give God thanks – a sacrifice of thanks – each day.

  1. Let everything that has breath praise the lord. Praise & thanksgiving are commands, whether something spectacular happened or not, we should give thanks. They should be our lifestyles. Beautiful post. Thanks💛
