Ready or Not

“For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.” 1 Thessalonians‬ ‭4:16-17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

I was out to lunch with a friend the other day and she said to me, I never thought I’d live to see the day – we’re living the book of Revelation. She’s right, I know this, I’ve known this, I’ve said this. But to hear someone else say it.. Well, it’s a sobering thought.

What’s even more sobering is the thought, Ready or not? Will I be ready? Will you be ready? Will our households be ready? Will our children be ready? Will our neighbors, coworkers, friends, acquaintances be ready? Will the person we pass daily on the corner be ready?

It is not God’s will that any of us should perish, but that we all come to repentance. One thing that seems so true, Jesus is coming soon. Will we be ready? Are we looking for Him, or will we be caught off guard?

“Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.” ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭15:51-52‬ ‭KJV‬‬
