I was laying in bed the other night, after a particularly rough day, having a rather challenging time… I know we aren’t supposed to question God why... Still, in that moment of feeling like the weight of it all was just too much. And feeling overwhelmed by the stress of what is, what was, what would be… Then, I was reminded:
And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 2 Corinthians 12:9 KJV
When I looked a little deeper, I realized I had missed the meaning of sufficient all this time. To me, sufficient merely meant good enough. But, oh dear friends, let me tell you, nothing related to God is ever just good enough. You see, when I looked a little deeper, I realized that sufficient means: enough, adequate, plenty.. Meaning God’s grace for me, especially in these trying circumstances is plentiful, acceptable, abundant, bountiful, profuse, well-provided, there is no end, powerful, astronomical, substantive, full, overflowing, chock-full, as much as necessary, there is more than enough for me!
I found that to be so powerful and encouraging. I’ve been living on it. Finally, I can fully understand why Paul was able to glory in his infirmities that the power of Christ could rest on Him.
Sufficient isn’t just enough. It’s more than enough.
I’m so thankful for God’s grace especially in this season of transition. Growing, changing – is rather painful at times. Walking into the unknown, just trusting God.. Well, it’s exactly as it sounds. There are tears and the desire to quit and give up and take the easy road every step of the way. Still… God’s grace is sufficient for me.
Finding myself clinging to His Word, resting in His promises, and living by His grace!
