“Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee:” Genesis 12:1 KJV
I wonder what Abram thought, if he thought at all, when God sent him away from his family, away from everything and everyone he had ever known, to journey to a new land… I must say, I admire his obedience to God, his obedience in venturing into the unknown.
I used to be the kind of person who couldn’t read a mystery without flipping to the end of the book. I’ve improved. But life is like that. God’s plan is like that. We don’t know the outcome, we just trust Him. Whether He sends us to a new land or even away from all that’s familiar, we trust Him.
When we learn to just trust Him, oh, the places we’ll go. The places He’ll send us. The things He will equip us to do…

When we learn to trust Him, it isn’t where we’ll go or what we’ll do that is our reward, but Jesus Himself. With trust we enter into intimacy with Him that far exceeds any reward on this earth. The one special place we go when we learn to trust is the depths of the Father’s heart. There is no more sacred, beautiful place than His heart, which burns with passionate love for His creation. Grasp the depth of this truth and you’ll give up everything just to learn how to trust Him!
