Since I entered my mid-thirties, I have discovered that I can’t just eat whatever I want and expect to not gain weight. I still struggle with this. I enjoy eating, especially those things that I’m supposed to have in moderation because they aren’t good for my body.
I’ve learned that what I choose to feed myself also impacts my health. Not so surprising, this is not limited to what I feed myself naturally, but also spiritually and emotionally.
I notice that when I feed myself the things of the world, my overall well-being suffers. When I watch or read certain things, my attitude, reactions, and how I see things are all affected.
Oh, but when I feed myself the things of God – reading my Bible, prayer, the fruit of the Spirit… My disposition, my outlook – everything inproves.
While I have a tough time putting away the Little Debbie cakes, chips, and candy I am learning to feed myself the things of God over the things of this world. For better spiritual and overall health.
