Availability

Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me. Isaiah 6:8 KJV

I want to make myself available to God. All too often I pray prayers, asking Him to do for me. Less often I make myself available to Him.

When Jesus prayed the prayer, “…nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done…” in Luke 22:42, He made Himself available. Not to do what the flesh desired, but to do the will of the Father. I often desire to do what I want to do, not so much what He wants me to do.

As I find myself in the waiting, in this transitory season, I’m so tempted to have my own way. Every where around me, I hear the message wait. I don’t want to spend my time waiting trying to figure things out on my own and doing my own thing. No. I want to make myself available for God to have His way in my life. I want to make myself available, without expecting anything in return. I want to make myself available to walk the path He has ordained for me. I want to make myself available for His will to be done in my life, not my own.

One of the most terrifying prayers I have prayed to date has been, not my will, but Thy will be done. Send me wherever You want me to be, I’ll go. Terrifying, yes. Worth it, without the shadow of a doubt.

God is so faithful. He never leaves us. When our steps are truly ordered by Him, I know that even if it doesn’t make sense, He’s working everything out for a purpose.
