Double-Minded

I had a youth tell me, I think I have a mixed personality. I’m either super evil or super nice.

A double minded man is unstable in all his ways. James 1:8 KJV

There is a danger that comes with the instability of living double-minded. When we live this way, our path, our steps, are not ordered by the Lord. How can they be? We serve a God of order. We serve an unchanging God. In Him is no wickedness, no darkness.

I have heard the double-minded man described as a person with spiritual schizophrenia.

I don’t know if you know much about schizophrenia, however it is characterized by: Delusions (false beliefs that are not based in reality), Disorganized thinking (speech and behavior), etc…

So how does this translate spiritually?

And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. 2 Thessalonians 2:8‭-‬12 KJV

We must not only accept Truth, but also love Truth. As Pilate asked, What is Truth? Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life:” John 14:6 KJV

I have heard too many stories of too many “believers” that “believe” part of the Bible. Or believe in heaven not hell. Believe in angels not demons. Believe in the God of the New Testament not the God of the Old Testament (He is the same yesterday, today, and forever).

It is truth and a love for truth that will lead us to life, understanding of the Word of God, and to God through Jesus Christ. It will protect us from being double-minded, vascilating between truth and the lie that the world tries to spew at us and even spill and mix into the church.
