Peace, true peace can only come from the Lord. I believe this to be true. I know this to be true. I have experienced – I am currently experiencing this truth in my own life. For, I believe God has extended to me, peace like a river…
For thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream: then shall ye suck, ye shall be borne upon her sides, and be dandled upon her knees. Isaiah 66:12 KJV
I will be honest with you all, these past few years have been — I don’t think I have the words to characterize them — they’ve just been. You know? There have been good times, bad times, and everything in between! Sometimes it feels like the bad outweigh the good, like it’s just one trial after another… But, in all of that ick I’m so thankful for God’s peace.
As I consider the heights of mountaintops and the depths of the valleys, one thing has remained constant: God. His love has not failed me. Neither has faithfulness. His mercies have continued to be new each morning. In hindsight, each difficulty faced, He brought me through victoriously. Many weapons have been formed, not one has prospered.
That’s the mighty God we serve! And as Jesus said:
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:27 KJV
There most assuredly is something about the peace that can only come from God. Like the song lyric says, I can’t explain it, I can’t contain, Jesus Your love is so – it’s so amazing… It truly is. Because He loves us He gives us peace. 1 John 4 tells us that His love, perfect love, casts out – expels, gets rid of, chases away – all fear – replacing it with peace, perfect peace.
