Do you remember some years back when young people were walking around pointing out all the things that #triggered them. And, it seemed like it was all the things: Too loud? #triggered Too quiet? #triggered (You get it..)
Not to discount anyone’s #triggers. I’ve recently had to face my own. Know what I discovered?
Triggers imprison and bind us.
We become shackled by our own #triggers They really don’t give us the space, nor the opportunity to be free and walk in the liberty that Jesus Christ’s blood afforded us.
The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. John 10:10 KJV
The thing about #triggers is that they can, and will, pop up at any time. In my experience, these tend to be the most inconvenient, unannounced moments. Kinda like when you get all settled and cozy in bed, then have to get up and turn off the light. (Not my favorite thing.) But seriously, have you been there? Living life, then life happens, or someone says or does something (or nothing) and you find yourself #triggered
Me, personally, when this has happened to me, I do my best to recognize the #trigger for what it is. I try to speak truth to the lies that my own #triggers whisper in my mind. I try to give whatever it is to God. How else will I ever be able to live an abundant life?
My desire, is not to find a fix for my own #triggers I also don’t want to just live with them. I want to cast/hurl/heave/fling/thrust/launch my cares/anxieties/worries/#triggers on God, because He cares for me. 1 Peter 5:7
I sought the LORD, and he heard me, And delivered me from all my fears. Psalm 34:4 KJV
Rather than walking around #triggered, I hope to walk around in the peace that can only come from the Lord.
...seek peace, and pursue it. Psalm 34:14b
