Testify

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17 KJV

From Nicodemus, who went to Jesus in the cloak of the dark of night to ask, How can these things be? (ref. John 3) To the Ethiopian Eunuch whom Philip encountered in the 8th chapter in the book of the Acts of the apostles. Philip asked him if he understood what he was reading? To which he responded, How can I except some man should guide me.. He didn’t stop there, he invited Philip to join him and guide him – and Philip did.

As in the days of Jesus and the apostles, we live in a time where people need to hear the truth. They need to hear the Word of God. And, they just may need someone to guide/teach/help them understand, on a personal level.

In the US Army, they love building us up by saying, We’re leaders at every level. Now, this is what you tell the Privates to build them up and encourage them when sending them out on an undesirable duty such as, picking up trash or sweeping rocks in the motor pool. But, it gave their job meaning, gave them meaning.

We’re in the Lord’s Army! Don’t we have an even greater commission – But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. Acts 1:8 KJV

Witnesses…

There are several definitions of witness. My favorites are: a.) give or serve as evidence of; testify to. b.) (of a person) openly profess one’s religious faith.

We are to be witnesses of Jesus Christ our Lord. Although, Resurrection Sunday has passed for 2022, what Jesus did on the cross is ever with us! Truth is, He’s alive! In Him, we have life, liberty, love, grace, mercy! In Him, we all have a testimony to share. We’re all witnesses of His power, His Spirit, His hand in our lives.

I was thinking over my life this past weekend, both the good and bad. And I came to the realization, that throughout the “bad times”, I’ve had a choice of which direction I was to turn. I could have continued on my destructive little path, shook my fist at the sky, blamed God for all that wasn’t right! Or, I could have allowed those times to bring me to my knees.

Hard times have a way of hardening us or humbling us.

For each time Jesus has tugged at your heart and drawn you with His Spirit, let me encourage you to share it! Tell someone today about the mighty move of God in your life.

Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. Matthew 10:32 KJV

  1. It is an interesting journey. First the fighting it, kicking and screaming…until one day He touches you. Usually while going through those hard parts in our lives that you mention. And be it even such a simple thing, but the inner questioning begins. And because I dared to question (in the middle of a divorce with all its emotions everywhere, I dared God to show me purpose in this worlds mess), and so I dared to ‘listen’ too. And so Spirit began to speak (not in a voice but a ‘knowing’), and as I tripped and stumbled to experience and know something, Spirit would enlighten me a little further. And as that inner love grew for myself it was only natural that I would share what I had found, give freely what was given to me…unconditionally. Be that witness to all that He has gifted to me. Great post dear lady, thank you for sharing 😀 ❤️ 🙏🏽 🦋

    1. Thank you so much for stopping by and sharing such a thoughtful and encouraging message. I especially love the part where you “dared to listen”. That is not always the easiest.

  2. And they have overcome (conquered) him by means of the blood of the Lamb and by the utterance of their testimony (Rev 12:11) Thanks Jessy for reminding us to witness and share our victories in Christ and by doing so, we take the devil down by one more peg!!💕
