Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. Galatians 6:2 NIV
Don’t you love when God gives you an unexpected glimpse of His hand?
I admit, I can often be in a rush, or a have a one-track mind: must accomplish x,y,z… You know what I mean? I knew that I had to have a conversation and the outcome was the only thing on my mind. I was honestly over thinking the situation, trying to pre-plan for the worst-case scenario and I did not – could not see anything else.
Thankfully, God can and will use every moment for His glory, despite us.
I think that even before I even walked inside, I knew that it was not going to be the conversation I stressed over. I mean, why did I even stress? The part I stressed about was a non-factor and there really was nothing to resolve (thank You, Jesus). However, the individual I spoke with began to share about their life with me.
This person repeated, multiple times, I’ve never shared this before… To look at this person, you would never know the tragedies that had befallen them. You would never know the hardships they had endured. You would never know the challenges they had to overcome in their life.
I’ve learned that, indeed, God is good.
Sometimes, people need someone to listen. I’m learning that being Jesus’s hands and feet also means carrying one another’s burdens, which also means lending an ear. Loving our neighbor can also look like sitting down with a stranger to allow them the opportunity to share their story without the threat or fear of judgment.
I learned a lot about myself and God in listening to this person’s life story. It’s easy to say and even read that God is faithful. But to hear the stories of how faithful He is. To have it reflected in my own life. I can no longer take for granted the “little things”. Because, in truth, there are no “little things”. God is faithful and His mercies are new each day. And, He is good. On top of everything else, He is good.

Amen. And sharing his goodness is how we encourage one another.
