“Not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” Hebrews 10:25 NIV
You know the quote, No man is an island.. Well, in a way, I think the pandemic and the rise of virtual everything has changed the truth and reality of that quote. Because, truth is, many people not only began living their lives as tiny, isolated islands, but are continuing to do so.
I mean, there’s virtual church. You can work remotely. You can order just about anything, including groceries, online and have it delivered to your door within hours, to days, depending on where you live. We don’t have to interact directly with anyone – unless we want to…
But, honestly, I don’t think this is how God intended us to live our lives.
We need each other. We need interaction. We need direct contact.
“As iron sharpens iron, So a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.” Proverbs 27:17 NKJV
Life is so chock full of ups and downs, twists and turns, that when I’m down, you’re up! And vice versa. We need each other.
I love having a supportive group of ladies whom I can call on any time of the day or night. These ladies will pray with me, for me. They will encourage me. They will tell me when I’m in the wrong and need to course correct. They will listen. Quite frankly, we cannot do life alone.
I pray that I offer the same love of God to others that others show to me. I pray that I live out the Word of God as I see it lived out before me.
I pray that I never get too comfortable on my own, in my isolated little corner of the world, that I forget the joys of living life together.

A counselor told someone sadly to say, the pandemic was good for one thing-their business. Togetherness brings strength.

That truly is sad. Iron definitely strengthens iron. As I grow older and as the days seem to become darker and colder, I am learning firsthand how much we truly need each other.

Dear Jessy, my sister in Christ, I agree totally with you. We need to pray for each other so that our faith is strengthened! Merry Christmas!

Thank you for sharing these encouraging words. Being retired for nearly five years, I have tried to stay connected with the “real” world more often in recent months.

I can imagine that it takes conscious effort to stay connected especially with the way things are these days days.
