Do You Remember?

I recently met a young man who can’t be more than 20 or 21 years old. Consistent with his generation, he had the saddest pair of eyes I think I’ve ever seen. A coworker had commented not so long before, These young kids are so grumpy all the time. I thought since they were young they’d be peppier.

This young man commented, Man, I can’t remember the last time I was happy. It was like 3 years ago, in 2019 or 2020, something like that.

My heart broke for him. He reeked of marijuana. I realized, he was probably self-medicating to cope with whatever it was that was keeping him from experiencing joy/happiness.

I know, and probably, you know, that true joy can only come from Jesus Christ. Having His Holy Spirit in our hearts.

Look around. This up and coming generation is filled with unhappy people who don’t know Jesus. The music industry is putting out this “Emo” music, which has to be contributing to the depression in these children and young adults.

Because, I’m a firm believer in: you are what you eat…

Do you remember the last time you experienced joy? The last time you experienced Jesus? Felt His loving arms around you? The last time you basked in His presence?

We must be salt and light in the world.. The salt must not lose it’s savor.. not now, not ever. There is an up and coming generation that seems so disconnected from knowing who Jesus is.

Not all of them.. but we need to take a stand.. we must..
