I love you with my whole heart ♥️ A romantic declaration shared between couples everywhere…
But is it? Is it romantic? You’ve probably read or seen the memes that say, “A woman’s heart must be so hidden in God that a man has to seek God to find her.” (Or something like that..)
Well… YES! And, it’s not gender specific. All of our hearts belong to Jesus. We should love Him first. We should love Him with all of our hearts. First.
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. Mark 12:30 NIV
Our hearts should be so hidden in Jesus Christ that one should seek Him to “find” their love. I’ve had to learn this the hard way.
Thing is, anything or anyone that we give our time/heart to, in place of God, becomes a god – idol – to us. 🙋🏾♀️ Guilty as charged. Once upon a time – Once upon several times – I gave my heart to men. I loved them with my whole heart. I didn’t even realize when they became the object of my worship. And, rightfully so, they are now, no longer in my life.
“Do not worship any other god, for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.” Exodus 34:14 NIV
The word idol has become so common place in our society today, that I think it’s easy sometimes to forget that idol is the root word in idolatry. Webster’s Dictionary defines idolatry as extreme admiration, love, or reverence for something or someone.
In all truth, our extreme admiration, love, or reverence belongs to God and God alone. Yet, how often do we catch ourselves giving the glory that belongs to Jesus to something or someone else.
I’ve been trying to be more intentional about recognizing this in my own life.
Today, as I reflect, I think about so many people that I know personally, who are still seeking. It’s like there’s an emptiness or void that they are trying and failing to fill. Jesus is the answer. Our hearts belong to Him and when we surrender our hearts to Him – what a change!

In fact, the expression, “in place of God” is a definition to, ANTICHRIST.
“Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.”
2 Tessalonicenses 2:4
