Never Full

”Hell and destruction are never full; So the eyes of man are never satisfied.“ Proverbs‬ ‭27‬:‭20‬ ‭KJV‬‬

I watched a series a while back, quite different from what I typically watch. I tend to stay away from any supernatural type shows… This one, however caught my interest. It was a secular view, sort of, on suicide and the consequences. The “devil” in one episode stated: Hell is full, packed like sardines, with evil increasing among the land of the living.

When we think about the lust of the eye, lust of the flesh, and the pride of life, there is no wonder why hell and destruction are never full. I’ve met people that are seemingly never full no matter how much they eat. People whom are never fully satisfied with their lives, no matter how high they climb. People who are not happy with their lives, spouses, children – not that any of the above did anything wrong – simply because there are those people who are constantly seeking more.

Paul taught us a great lesson: Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. Philippians 4:11-13 KJV

When we are not content, regardless of where we find ourselves in life, we open ourselves up to lust. Lust opens us up to sin. And sin paves the way to death: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. James 1:14-15 KJV

True contentment is only found in Christ. And for every temptation, God creates a way of escape.
