Henry David Thoreau said: There is no remedy for love but to love more.
You know, the more I look around at the world, the more I realize the need for love. We lack love for one another, for those in our own households even.
I find this to be one of the most sad situations we can face as a people.
I don’t know where you find yourself in life, in love, looking for love, falling in and out of love, running from love, hopeful for love, scarred by love, etc… But I do know this, we can never have too much love and we can always love more.
I find, in all of my relationships, those with my family, children, friends, etc… that when times get tough, on either side, the best response is always love.
Someone asked me an insightful question: What’s the best way to show me love at my best and my worst? And, in what ways do I show love at my best and my worst?
No one has ever asked me anything like this. This person followed up with their thoughts that so many relationships, of various types, fall apart because people don’t understand how to love one another, let alone themselves, oftentimes.
But what if we, as a people, started to love more? What if we started to love people where they are, as they are? What if cared enough to show others love, not only at their best, but also at their worst?
“Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.” Matthew 22:37-39 KJV
