Encourage Yourself In The Lord

“And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.” ‭‭1 Samuel‬ ‭30‬:‭6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Not one of us is immune to this thing called life. If you have lived any amount of time, you have endured heartache, trials, people not liking you, persecution, pain of various kinds, loss in many forms… We’ve all been through some things.

I’ve learned, in my seasons of grief, my seasons of loss, my seasons of pain, just what it means to encourage myself in the Lord my God.

I know the power of opening my Bible and praying the Word of God, when I can’t seem to find the words to pray.

I promise you, when you pray the Word, something happens. Something breaks! Bonds are loosed.

In one particular season, God revealed to me that I so very often went to people trying to fix situations; when I should be going to Him. Rather than doing my usual, and going to people. I went to Jesus. And you know, God lifted every weight.

I had cast my cares on Him..

I encouraged myself in the Lord, praying the Word of God, and my heart was comforted. The Holy Spirit is our Comforter.

God is not far. He is not unfeeling. No matter what we experience or endure in this life, He is near. He sticks closer than a brother. And He loves us.
