Where Is Your Trust?

Stop trusting in mere humans, who have but a breath in their nostrils. Why hold them in esteem? Isaiah 2:22 NIV

Up until recently, I had this problem.. I, unknowingly, realized that I had been placing my trust in people. When things went awry, or when I felt wrong, or when any situation arised, I immediately went directly to the person. With all the right intentions, thinking, we have to fix this right now!

But, you know. My trust, my faith was in the wrong places. It was in people. It was in myself, even. It wasn’t in God.

I was on my morning walk a few weeks back, feeling the need to fix a situation with someone. And God stopped me in my tracks. I was reminded of Isaiah 2:22 I was reminded of Psalm 46:1 I was reminded of Philippians 4:6

And you know, I had to wonder, why I wasn’t going to God first. When I decided to take everything (my cares, my concerns, the issues) to God first, it eliminated the need to fix the situation myself.

God truly cares for us. And He takes care of every situation. The thing is, before we were, before time was, God said is the great I AM.  He had already worked out the situation. Jesus is the Truth. He is the Answer. Why wouldn’t I go to Him first? Going to God first also took away the anxiety associated with the situation.

God truly gives us peace.

Maybe I’m the only one who needs this word, or reminder. But if you’re ever faced with a situation where you’re tempted to fix a situation, or go to someone else… Go to Jesus first. I promise you, it works.
