And when he was come in, he saith unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? the damsel is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn. But when he had put them all out, he taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with him, and entereth in where the damsel was lying. And he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise. And straightway the damsel arose, and walked; for she was of the age of twelve years. And they were astonished with a great astonishment. And he charged them straitly that no man should know it; and commanded that something should be given her to eat. Mark 5:39-43 KJV
This passage has always been one of my favorites amongst Jesus’ miracles, for so many reasons..
The damsel, was Jairus’ daughter. Jairus was a leader in the synagogue who sought Jesus to heal his daughter, who was at the point of death. By the time they arrived, she had passed. The mourners were mourning. But Jesus has them all leave, said that she wasn’t dead, but sleeping. And they laughed at Him.
Now, what strikes me about this, and what I love about it, is that Jesus spoke life into the situation, before anyone saw the manifestation of His words.
Have you ever been there?
Where you just needed to speak life before you even saw life in what seemed like a dead situation? I have.
And maybe the naysayers laughed. Who cares! Speak life anyway! Because when God is in it, that situation will arise!
That little girl got up!
Can imagine the shock on the faces of the mourners, the weepers, who had just laughed at Jesus? I wouldn’t want to be opposed to Him, ever.
But it’s God, always who gets the glory. In every situation of ours that may have appeared dead, Talitha Cumi, arise, in the name of Jesus Christ! Speak life and may God receive the glory.

But I think my favorite part of the story is when Jesus puts them out😂 🤣
