Trust in the Lord

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs‬ ‭3:5-6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

It has become apparent to me that this scripture is meeting me where I need to be along my journey with God. Sometimes, I have realized, that I have been trusting in myself. Sometimes, I find myself trusting in what I think I can do or my knowledge, my career, my, my, my… This isn’t at all where God wants me. He wants me trusting in Him. Not just trusting in Him, but trusting in Him with my whole heart. I learned that when trusting in Him with my whole heart, He truly does direct my paths. And, why? Because, He loves me. He loves us.

“For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him.” ‭‭2 Chronicles‬ ‭16:9‬a KJV‬‬

Not only are God’s eyes always upon us, but His eyes roam the earth to show himself on our behalf.. He is looking ahead to prepare our path. He fights our battles. He goes before us. So, why lean to our own understandings? Why look down to our current circumstances when we should lift up [our] eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh [our] help. [Our] help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. (Psalms 121: 1-2 KJV)

“But he, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, and destroyed them not: yea, many a time turned he his anger away, and did not stir up all his wrath. For he remembered that they were but flesh; a wind that passeth away, and cometh not again.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭78:38-39‬ ‭KJV‬‬

God is a God of love and compassion.
