Independence Day

This past weekend, the United States celebrated Independence Day. The days leading up to July 4th and the days following, I couldn’t help but think of my own personal independence day..

Thing is, as Jesus stated in Luke 4:18 KJV: “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised”

Jesus came to set the captives free, to heal, to deliver, to recover/restore, to give hope, and to give us liberty.

This kind of freedom/independence was gained through the life, death, burial, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ.

Life has not been easy this year. This has been a year full of loss, ups and downs, unexpected and unfortunate events…

But God!

This year, while everyone celebrated the independence of this nation.. I thanked God for the freedom that Jesus’ blood afforded me, my children, my family, my friends, my neighbors, and all who are afar off, as many as the Lord shall call…

We can rejoice in freedom every day.

That, my friends, is something to celebrate!
