But, Love?

I really don’t know why I decided to venture onto Facebook on a day like Valentine’s Day… Was it that that little red dot signaling I had notifications? Or, was it curiosity/boredom? Whatever the case, I did.

First post I read began something like this: It’s Valentine’s Day, I’m single. I woke up late… Tales of a rough morning. At first, I didn’t comment, I just continued to scroll. More “sad & single” posts mixed in with “Happy V-Day, Honey!” posts… I don’t do the scroll Facebook thing often, it’s too much for me on a typical day.

But, for the rough morning post, I felt myself thinking about it – drawn to it. I have plenty of rough – I can’t believe I didn’t hear my alarms?! mornings. Intertwined, with other stuff. I also slept in today, Valentine’s Day. Why did being single make it so much worse for her? So, I found myself on her post sending a positive message… I kept it light, when I really wanted to say so much more so she knew, she is so loved!

Despite the rough mornings, days, nights – single, taken, or married – our relationship status does not define us. A day like Valentine’s Day should not make anyone feel less than or incomplete because they are not another half of a relationship. Ugh, it saddens me… When will we get it right? Like me, she is a mother… I think of the example – I think of my own children…

When I woke up this morning, I was so grateful for the blessing of life! I reminded myself, as I reminded my children, that God is love. So, on this day – a day of love, which is really no different from any other day, it’s just a day that everyone emphasizes love, I challenged myself and my kiddos to remember:

Matthew‬ ‭22:37-39‬ ‭KJV “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.”

What greater demonstration of love on Valentine’s Day? At least for single people like me 😊♥️
