My eldest graduated high school today. It was a bittersweet experience. While I celebrate her and her accomplishments, reality has set in. My first born, my eldest, my baby has not only graduated high school, she is heading to college, 3 hours from home in the fall.
I thank God for His many blessings. There are so many statistics regarding single mothers, minority single mothers at that, raising children. She was accepted into nearly every university to which she applied. She has given me no issues. She didn’t date. She has her own relationship with Jesus. I really couldn’t ask for anything more – except more time.
No one tells you about this part – how hard it is… Transitions are tough.
Still, to my Babydoll and all the other 2023 graduates – high school, college, and anything in between – CONGRATULATIONS!

You’ve done a wonderful job, Momma! My daughter didn’t date, either. This September will be year number 4- four hours from home. The first year without her was traumatizing, but each year gets better and easier. I will be praying for you, Jessy! My daughter and I FaceTimed quite a bit…that helped so much!

Congratulations! My daughter, also went to college, almost four hours away. It’s not easy, seeing them only on holidays, but worth it to see them independent! Blessings to you both!

Thank you, Warren. Not easy at all. And, you’re right, it is worth it to see her out there independent!
