Not to Make This Spiritual…

… But it is!

Something that I’m learning more and more as each days passes is that nearly everything (if not everything) that we face in life, is indeed spiritual.

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” Ephesians‬ ‭6‬:‭10‬-‭12‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The older I become, the more reflective I am over my past, and even my current life situation, I realize the importance of walking with God, putting on the Armor of God, resisting the devil and the state of being a lukewarm Christian.

Because, allow me to say, these battles we face on the job, at the grocery store, within our families, and our relationships, etc.. most definitely are spiritual.

I grew up hearing it said that you’re going to be used by somebody; God or the devil. And if you choose to ride the fence, the devil owns the fence.

I didn’t understand that as an adolescent. I get it now.. To ride the fence is to be lukewarm. To be lukewarm is to be asleep or maybe even dead, spiritually.

“I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:” Revelation‬ ‭3‬:‭15‬-‭17‬ ‭KJV‬‬

We must be careful to avoid getting to a place where we don’t recognize our need for repentance, our need for Jesus. We need Him every single day. All day.

The battles we face are increasing. Sometimes we may be prone to hurt and anger, even depression, behind what he/she said/did to us. But we must recognize the tools the enemy uses. It is 1000% spiritual. Which is why we must stay in prayer, stay armored up. We can’t fight spiritual battles with fleshly weapons.

“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; and having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.” 2 Corinthians‬ ‭10‬:‭3‬-‭6‬ ‭KJV‬‬

I think too many of us don’t recognize who our enemy is. It’s not your coworker, supervisor, ex-spouse/ex-friend, neighbor, or what have you… We have a common enemy and Jesus has already defeated him and we are victorious through the precious blood of Jesus Christ.

Let me encourage you today to take a couple steps back, assess whatever situation you may be facing in your life, and know that, yes it is spiritual, and yes, you have a Father in heaven dispatching angels to minister to you, encourage you and fight these battles for you. Stay prayed up, stay in the Word of God, and put your armor on!
