Master of Disguise

“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!” Isaiah‬ ‭5‬:‭20‬ ‭KJV‬‬

From the beginning of time, in the Garden of Eden, the enemy of our souls has craftily disguised himself when approaching us, tempting us…

I was chatting with my children on the topic of sin recently after hearing someone say that an activity they had engaged in “didn’t feel wrong.” My son wisely pointed out that sin wouldn’t be so tempting and/or desirable if it gave off the appearance of evil.

Truth is, sometimes, sin can feel good. Sometimes, sin can even falsely appear innocent. If sinful acts portrayed the end result, or demonstrated how diabolical they are in nature, who, in their right mind would actually engage in sin?

A big issue that we face increasingly in our current climate is that along with a lack of repentance, we are becoming desensitized to sin in our lives. When we live our lives based on what feels good/bad, right/wrong, we run the risk of becoming unrepentant in a sinful state.

“But I am not surprised! Even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. So it is no wonder that his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. In the end they will get the punishment their wicked deeds deserve.” 2 Corinthians‬ ‭11‬:‭14‬-‭15‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The devil often disguises himself as an angel of light. Which makes sense. People are more inclined to follow the beautiful, vibrant, clever.. over the ugly, scary darkness that truly comprises the enemy of our souls.

We must use godly wisdom as we seek Jesus and live our daily lives. To cleave to the sensual, earthly wisdom of this world is detrimental to us and will lead us to death as we stray away from God.

We must constantly beware of those who call evil good and good evil. We must be willing to call it out and proclaim the truth of the Word of the Lord.

“Enemies disguise themselves with their lips, but in their hearts they harbor deceit. Though their speech is charming, do not believe them, for seven abominations fill their hearts. Their malice may be concealed by deception, but their wickedness will be exposed in the assembly.” Proverbs‬ ‭26‬:‭24‬-‭26‬ ‭NIV‬‬

  1. This is good stuff Jessy. We have to be as wise as serpent’s, when we hear the wolf say…., Oh, it’s just a ‘little’ leaven…for that is satan’s strategy to lead us back into spiritual enslavement🤦🏾‍♀️
We need the power of the Holy Spirit to help us to fly away from the stumbling blocks of sin and temptation, like an innocent dove.
