100/100

I was having a conversation with a friend, and he shared: The world has this idea that relationships should be 50/50, but really they should be 100/100.

I admit, I had to think on that one for a few.

He was right.

‭‭‭‭“Haven’t you read the Scriptures?” Jesus replied. “They record that from the beginning ‘God made them male and female.’” And he said, “‘This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.’” Matthew 19:4-5 NLT‬‬

The world tells us to “match energies. Whatever that means. But, I promise you, that’s not God’s way.

“‭‭Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up. Again, if two lie together, then they have heat: but how can one be warm alone? And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.” Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 KJV‬‬

We serve a relational God. He longs to be in relationship with us and He also made us relational. Thing is, we must be willing to give in our relationships as Jesus gave.

As a parent, as a friend, no matter the relationship – spousal, sibling, etc… When we love, we give. When someone we love lacks the strength to reach Jesus, I pray that we love them enough to carry them, to stand in the gap, to do whatever it takes, to get them to Jesus.

I know that when I have been down and out I have had amazing, God sent friends who prayed me out of the storms. I pray that we all can be that for those around us.

‭‭
“One day Jesus was teaching, and Pharisees and teachers of the law were sitting there. They had come from every village of Galilee and from Judea and Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was with Jesus to heal the sick. Some men came carrying a paralyzed man on a mat and tried to take him into the house to lay him before Jesus. When they could not find a way to do this because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and lowered him on his mat through the tiles into the middle of the crowd, right in front of Jesus. When Jesus saw their faith, he said, “Friend, your sins are forgiven.” Luke 5:17-20 NIV‬‬

  1. Blessings for sharing these encouraging thoughts. Jesus reminds us of the Father’s design for life. As the verses from Ecclesiastes state, we were created to be in relationships with the Father, Son, Spirit, and people.
