Of Few Days

Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble. Job 14:1 KJV

The older I become, the more I realize how precious the gift of life truly is.

It is truly a blessing to wake up each day. It’s a blessing when a baby is born healthy. It’s a blessing when we go to bed with our stomachs full. It’s a blessing to have protection from the elements.

So many blessings, great and small.

When we realize the gift that we are blessed with, and how fleeting time is… We stop holding on to unnecessary unforgiveness and bitterness. Forgiveness comes so much easier, so much quicker.

When we realize how quickly life and time can pass us by, we understand Jesus’ words in Matthew 16:26 KJV For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

We wouldn’t spend our whole lives working, attaining worthless, worldly gain… Only to discover that at the end of our lives: we can’t take it with us and our lives amounted to so much more than our possessions.

I’m only 38, as I write this, and I thank God that I learned from the wisdom of elders whom I chose to surround myself with, these biblical truths.

Our days are short. We will have troubles. But we must be quick to forgive. Quick to love. Slow to anger. Slow to speak. And understand the value of quality time. Understand the value of relationships over possessions.
