Cut It Off

And if your hand—even your stronger hand—causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. Matthew 5:30 NLT

You know, as I read blog posts from fellow bloggers, look at current events locally and across the world, it has become more and more evident that every day that passes we are closer and closer to the second coming of Jesus.

This of course means, the enemy will stop at nothing to tempt, entice, and draw as many people away from God as he can.

This cannot be.

We must take a stand.

I learned, for myself, the meaning of the verse above, and the verses that surround it.

Sometimes, it hurts. And, I have had to endure the pain of plucking out, cutting off some things, relationships, hobbies, activities, jobs, etc… They didn’t bring glory to God, rather they brought more pleasure to my flesh than anything. And drew me away from God.

I was chatting with a friend the other day and we both shared how wrong friendships/relationships will have you compromising your walk with God, not gradually, but instantly. It’s an immediate shift. These wrong friendships/relationships must be handled, cut off, immediately. It’s far better to enter into heaven without. Rather than compromise, here in this life and miss heaven altogether.

  1. Cut 🔪it off 🫲. The Holy Spirit was finally able to move – in fullness through Samson – after his eyes were cut-out. His eyes were his offending (physical) organ- again and again. But the Philistines took him, and put out his eyes, and brought him down to Gaza, and bound him with fetters of brass; and he did grind in the prison house. Howbeit the hair of his head began to grow again after he was shaven (Judg 16:21) How long, he delayed, before shaving off the sin that so easily beset him.
