Willing

Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. Matthew 26:41 KJV

Have you ever felt trapped, in sin, and you knew that the only way out was Jesus?

Me too..

I realized, just the other day, that the willingness of the spirit must be stronger than the weakness of the flesh…

What do I mean by that?

I’m glad you asked! Sometimes, the weakness, or desires, if you will, of the flesh is so strong that it consumes us and causes us to fall. Sometimes, the desire of weakness of the flesh outweighs our desire, or the willingness, of the spirit.

Sometimes, we can find every excuse to justify our flesh, even if it contradicts the Word of God.

Scary thought.

But, I know from experience, that no matter how strong the pull of our weakness – this corruptible flesh; when our desire to please God, serve Him, and live holy is stronger, it’s not by our own might or power, but by God’s Holy Spirit, that helps us to overcome any and every sin and stronghold.

My prayer for myself, and you, today is that we stop trying to overcome this flesh on our own, and we have an even stronger willingness in our spirits to God and for the things of God.
