When I was a little girl, I recall my mother saying, “Y’all, I’m tired.” I didn’t know exactly what she meant, when she said that. I just remember feeling scared to death. I remember thinking, “What will we do if she goes to sleep and never wakes up?”
Heavy thoughts for a child…
Fast forward a good many years… And my youngest expressed, “I’m tired.”
Oh the fear that gripped me.
See, up until recently, I can’t say that I have ever known what it meant to be tired. Not sleepy. Tired. There’s a difference.
Tired goes down to the soul. Tired can only be cured with the peace and rest, found only in Jesus Christ.
Sleepy indicates a physical need. Tired indicates a soul need.
Thankfully for us, Jesus knew that we would experience being tired at some point in our lives and He said: Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28 KJV

So powerful! This post reminded me that rest for the soul can only come through Christ. ❤️❤️
