He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done. Matthew 26:42 KJV
I found myself, not too long ago, begging God to remove the discomfort that I’ve been experiencing. I was so tired of the pain, the rejection, the worry, the fear, the unknown..
I could have settled for the counterfeit comfort.
I wanted to.
But in the midst of it all, I was reminded of Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane.
He had prayed a similar prayer. Yet, Jesus endured.
Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. John 16:7 KJV
There is something special that comes, when we endure.
Jesus endured the cross, despising the shame.. Why? So that we have access to true peace and comfort.
I had to stop looking at all that was wrong, and start looking at God. As I took my eyes off of the issues, I experienced true peace and comfort, in the middle of life’s storms.
Jesus said in John 16:33 KJV: These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
