Right and Wrong

I came across a quote the other day written in an old Bible, from a sermon from over twenty years ago… The quote read: We say we are Christians, yet we condone adultery, fornication…

Talk about conviction. How many times do I turn a blind eye, or even condone sin of any kind?

God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. So sin is still sin. Right is still right, and wrong is still wrong. Why have I/we allowed the lines to get blurred? Why have we/I turned a blind eye as though wrong is “okay” under some circumstances?

“Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night.” Psalms‬ ‭1:1-2‬ ‭NIV‬‬

This passage has been on my mind for quite a while. Sometimes, I think that I haven’t always fully understood it, honestly. But, in all truth, doesn’t put flesh make it seem easier to sit down – or shut down – rather than stand for truth? However, that make us a party to sin, right?

I mean, when we see our family, friends, acquaintances going the wrong way and choose not to say anything, or choose to listen to their stories… Then, we don’t speak truth or we walk away for fear of offending them or hurting their feelings or whatever the case… Aren’t we also in the wrong?

Have we come to a place where we are more concerned with others than we are with God? Yet, we say that we are Christians… Not you of course.. I’m really talking to myself. Saying “we” somehow just feels better..

As I sit and reflect, I see that there are things that I need to change. Conversations, even, that I need to have. Because, right is still right. And, wrong is still wrong. And, to delight in God’s law, I can’t allow myself or anyone in my life to not know where I stand – what the word of God says about that…

  1. Amen Amen Amen all day and night long. Isaiah 58 says to cry loud and spare not. We are to be more concern of the welfare of one’s soul than anything else. And God’s standards of living. ..which never has or never will change because His way is Perfect. Let us stand together in holding up the blood stained banner.
    Good reflection indeed!
