When The Strong Cry

I may have shared with you all before that I am an Army veteran. I served in Afghanistan in 2012. I was a medic. Memories that still brings tears to my eyes today are when my fellow male soldiers cried.

There is just something about when a warrior cries.

I think back to ‭‭John 11:35 KJV‬‬ Jesus wept.

He didn’t just cry, He wept.

According to dictionary.com, the term weep means to express grief, sorrow, or any overpowering emotion by shedding tears.

There are times when I find myself wanting to hide my own tears, or hold them inside. But then, I’m reminded, that Jesus, the Son of God, wept. He wept openly, unashamedly. There was not an ounce of pride to stop Him. He allowed Himself to weep.

I find myself learning that whether I cry, or weep, it’s not a weakness. Rather, it’s strength. To allow an expression such as tears with the absence of pride, if only for a moment, before getting back up… It’s okay…

There is strength in the tears. There’s power in the breaking. And I know that especially in those moments, God is moving. He is with me.
