Molded

But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand. ‭‭Isaiah 64:8 KJV‬‬

I remember hearing someone say, once upon a time, some time ago, “We mold children by the words of our mouths.”

I used to believe that.

Then, I found myself in several situations where I was seemingly molded by the words of others. And by molded I mean not only was I being held to expectations known/unknown, realistic/unrealistic.. But I was also being molded into person that others wanted me to be. I was being molded to fit a role that others wanted me to play.

I was being molded into someone else. Someone other than me. Someone other than who God was molding me to be.

How exhausting!

When we get to a place where we care more about what others think about us than what God thinks, we’re in a dangerous place.

When we’re in a place where we try to mold others into who we want them to be more than who God created them to be, we’re in a dangerous place.

I tried, boy did I try, to be the person that someone wanted me to be. I was neither true to myself, or to who God created me to be. But I tried. In the end, after the dysfunction and the dissatisfaction, I chose God. And I choose Him again and again, every single time!

No more will I ever fit a role that is contrary to the woman God continues to mold me into. Never again will I try to fit the mold of the world or anyone in it. I will choose Christ, every time. I will allow Him to mold me each time.

  1. Amen. Blessings Jessy for sharing this encouraging testament. While mankind attempts to mold our future, we soon find ourselves on the performance treadmill where perfection rules the day. God’s perfect grace approach molds us in His image, and He picks us up every time we stumble.
