Don’t You Remember?

Remember Lot’s wife. Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it. Luke 17:32-33 KJV

The children of Israel grumbled after the Exodus from Egypt, when things seemed bleak. Not only did they grumble, but they also stated, on more than one occasion, that life was better back in Egypt. Better in the land of their captivity.

They remembered what they wanted to.

They forgot how their cries reached God and He sent a deliverer. An answer to their prayers.

Lot and his family narrowly escaped the judgement on Sodom and Gomorrah. They were warned to not look back.

In that place, full of wickedness, there was something that compelled Lot’s wife to look back.

I’m guilty. I have looked back at times on what God has delivered me from.

People. Places. Situations.

Anytime that I have found myself ever looking back, I’m reminded to remember Lot’s wife.

She looked back and became a pillar of salt.

She looked back and lost her life.

I encourage you as I encourage myself: stop looking back on those things that God has delivered us from. We must walk in the newness of life that His grace and love have afforded us. We must lift up our eyes to the hills from where our help comes.. Our help comes from the Lord, the Maker of the heavens and the earth.

Remember.. and don’t look back.
