And the angel of God, which went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them; and the pillar of the cloud went from before their face, and stood behind them: and it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was a cloud and darkness to them, but it gave light by night to these: so that the one came not near the other all the night. I don’t think I had ever quite paid attention to this passage… However, reading it some days ago, it stood out.
Sometimes, in life, we find ourselves in situations where it seems like it’s us vs them.
Sometimes, God gives us vision/light… We can see, know, comprehend. And they seem to not understand, see, know…
It dawned on me.. God is so awesome that He not only goes before us and brings up our rearward. God not only surrounds us, but in His infinite might, He is light to us and darkness to them. He stands between us and our enemy. We don’t have to fight. We don’t have to worry or fret. He is with us! He won’t allow the enemy to touch us.
This hit me differently, as I’m learning daily to give it all to Him. I’m learning that He fights for us, even when we can’t see what’s behind us. God sees and He knows and He is our defense.
