Not Me

‭1 Samuel 8:7-9 KJV‬
And the LORD said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them. According to all the works which they have done since the day that I brought them up out of Egypt even unto this day, wherewith they have forsaken me, and served other gods, so do they also unto thee. Now therefore hearken unto their voice: howbeit yet protest solemnly unto them, and shew them the manner of the king that shall reign over them.

I’m sure that I’m not the only one here who has faced rejection.

Don’t worry, I don’t need a show of hands.

Thing is, however, that in this life, we will all face rejection at some point, to some extent. This can come in the form of the parent/child relationship, siblings, friends, coworkers, classmates, significant others, employer… and the list goes on and on…

But, sometimes, what I remind myself and those close to me, it’s not us that they are rejecting, but God in us – so God.

When I consider this, it makes me so sad.

Sometimes there are rejections that we simply cannot understand. They make no sense whatsoever.. When/If this happens, let me encourage you to pray about that situation, pray for the individual(s)… Because when we take a few steps back and look at the bigger picture, we realize, it’s not the I but the Jesus Christ – His Holy Spirit in us.

That changes everything.
